On June 1, The Columbus Dispatch Scholar Athlete Awards Event presented by The Motorists Insurance Group, in partnership with Atlas Butler, OhioHealth and Wendy's High School Heisman, recognized outstanding scholar-athletes from 111 Central Ohio high schools. More than 200 student athlete finalists were recognized for their achievements, both on and off the field of play during 2015-16 school year, and 22 students were awarded $96,500 in college scholarships at the awards event.

The Columbus Dispatch and 10TV, in conjunction with The Motorists Insurance Group, is honored to present Scholar Athlete Awards recognizing the accomplishments of some of central Ohio's top student athletes. The awards honor the top male and female scholar athletes from more than 100 central Ohio high schools. In existence for more than 25 years, the criteria for choosing award winners mirror the criteria for nominations: involvement in high school varsity sports teams, leadership and/or exemplary performance in team athletics and in the classroom, community involvement/service, grades and/or college admission scores, and financial need.
